Traveling to places around the world promoting CUGN and ChristianCourses.com is a common occurrence for Christian University GlobalNet President Evan Morgan. Each visit he makes to a new country offers a unique opportunity to learn more about the people and the culture.

In the past year, Evan traveled to Singapore and Malaysia, where he met with churches and spoke at pastors’ events. From his experiences in both countries, he found a common response of warm receptions and much interest in CUGN.

“The people I met have a passion for learning that is refreshing,” Evan says. “They are diligent in their studies and attentive in listening, and many have a strong desire to know and understand God’s Word.”

Evan appreciates the hospitality shown by the people he encounters on his travels, and this was especially seen in his most recent trip to Asia. There he was invited to a “steamboat” meal, which proved to be an interesting cultural experience.

Although the use of the word steamboat could have implied dinner on the water aboard a renovated boat, it was not at all what Evan expected as dinner was served on dry land. However, the steamboat mystery was revealed when he and the others with him immersed pieces of fish into a boiling pot of fish broth and held them there until they were cooked.

The steamboat meal was an interesting experience—one that Evan will not easily forget. But his favorite part about the cuisine was the coffee. Evan recalls, “It’s good, especially served with kaya toast smothered in a special coconut spread.”

Reflecting on his experiences abroad, Evan concludes, “We have been blessed with an archive of Bible studies and teaching that we are eager to share with our brothers and sisters around the world.” More specifically, he notes, “much interest in our courses has been expressed in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, so we will continue to work with churches and Bible schools in those locations and others to provide courses that support what they already have.”
